Jill Z: Her Music of the Race
Jill Zor was a full-time music teacher giving private lessons to aspiring violinists until, one day, she decided to challenge herself and run for the marathon.
Running was a childhood dream she took from her dad who was a marathon racer. It was the sound of the clinking medals, however, that prompted her to finally take action and run.
“It’s this child who ran a marathon. I saw his medals and I would always look at him,” Jill recalls about her motivation to start running.
Sports may look like a new territory but Jill knew the music of the race sang by every persevering athlete who aims for success: keep going! And she’s playing it well.
“Just keep going. Keep a positive attitude, keep improving, and keep learning. After these, you can overcome any obstacle.”
Right now, Jill is focused on getting better, faster, and running longer. She balances her physical training with yoga and meditation while reading up more about preparing for the marathon.
“I want to do my first ultra-marathon, so I’m just going to build up from marathon to ultra-marathon.”
